Dr. Carol Chow

Founder · Chow & Partners
Founder & CEO, Sylvanus Asia Pte Ltd and Opulentia Capital Pte Ltd
PhD, Accounting & Finance — National University of Singapore

Carol Chow has spent over fifteen years in capital operations on both sides of the China–West divide, almost always as the person accountable rather than the person advising. She has been chief executive of a Shanghai-listed developer, managing director of a Singapore-listed pharmaceutical group, vice president of business strategy at a Hong Kong-listed resources company, and vice president of sales at a mainland securities house.

At Lang Fang City Development (SHEX: 600149) she raised RMB 2 billion, built the institutional partnerships behind it, and steered the company through the 2015 Chinese market crash with shareholder interests intact and the stock recovered. At ATL Group she led the NYSE listing programme, managing US and Chinese stakeholders simultaneously — a corridor very few practitioners have actually run end to end.

In Singapore she founded and launched a multi-strategy capital VCC for Atlantis Investment Management in under three months, rebuilt the office single-handedly, hired the local team from nothing and secured a new sovereign fund relationship. She subsequently founded Sylvanus Asia and Opulentia Capital, her own sustainability investment and ESG advisory platforms, which she leads today. In London she founded and ran ACE Academy. Earlier, she taught financial accounting to postgraduates and MBAs at the University of Queensland in Brisbane.

Chow & Partners is the vehicle through which she now takes a small number of private mandates. The practice exists because the situations she is asked about — a family structure that has outgrown its bank, a deal that will not close on economics alone, a fund that needs Asia to be real — are not problems an institution solves. They are problems a person solves.

What is genuinely rare here

Six capabilities that are difficult to hire.

Operator, not adviser

Almost every credential is a CEO or MD seat, not a consulting engagement. She has signed the decisions, not the recommendations.

Four exchanges, personally

NYSE, HKEX, SGX and SHEX. Advisers who have worked on all four as an operator are close to non-existent.

The China–West corridor, both directions

Mainland securities and listed-company leadership on one side; London, Brisbane and US stakeholder management on the other. Native in both registers.

Crisis-tested

Led a Shanghai-listed company through the 2015 crash and protected shareholders. Judgement under real downside, not modelled downside.

Sovereign and institutional access

A new sovereign fund relationship secured from a standing start, plus institutional partnerships behind an RMB 2bn raise.

Academic rigour underneath

A PhD in accounting and finance and a university teaching record — the technical floor beneath the deal instinct.
